Out of the Shadows 2023 Lifeline Tasmania’s Annual Out of the Shadows World Suicide Prevention Day in Person in 2023 Sunday 10th September, 2023, marks World Suicide Prevention Day. Lifeline Tasmania annually hosts an Out of the Shadows Walk to bring communities together, recognise the day, reflect on those we have lost, and to bring the conversation about suicide out of the darkness and into the light. This year, Out of the Shadows events are again happening state-wide. With walks in Hobart, Burnie, Smithton and Launceston all held around the date 10th of September. Lifeline Tasmania will be hosting the Hobart event on Friday the 8th of September with a special focus on sharing stories of hope and compassion through a live broadcast with Triple M Hobart's breakfast team Woody and Tubes. For the walk, participants will leave from the Murray Street end of Parliamentary Gardens and walk along the flat, sealed footpath to the Cardinal Lights in Mawson Place and will return via Franklin Wharf. The walk is under 1km long and suitable for all abilities. Tasmanians can also attend community organised events in Burnie, Smithton and Launceston which will be supported by Lifeline Tasmania’s Standby Support After Suicide Service.
