Preventing Vicarious Trauma
This training is relevant to anyone in emotionally demanding roles, who may encounter traumatic stories and events.
Vicarious Trauma can have a profound impact on individuals and organisations, and this session offers evidence-based strategies to mitigates its effects. By increasing trauma literacy and embedding protective coping practices, this workshop helps build resilient, high function workplaces where staff feel safe, supported, and effective.

Working with people who have experienced trauma, crisis or distress can have a deep impact on those providing support. Over time, repeated exposure to other people's experiences can contribute to vicarious trauma, affecting your emotional wellbeing, confidence, relationships and ability to do your job effectively.

Throughout this interactive workshop, participants will learn how trauma affects the brain and nervous system, identify personal and workplace risk factors, and develop practical tools to protect their wellbeing.

The course explores the importance of healthy boundaries, introduces the concept of emotional PPE, and provides opportunities to practise low-impact debriefing techniques that support both individuals and teams

Participants will learn how to:

Assess workplace and personal risk factors and identify common hotspots.

Understand the impact of trauma on the brain and nervous system.

Apply practical strategies for Emotional PPE to build resilience.

Establish and maintain healthy professional boundaries.

Practise low-impact debriefing techniques to reduce the emotional load of supporting others.

In-house trainings
In-house trainings require at least 3 weeks' notice for a full refund, otherwise no refund is applicable.

Recovery of travel costs

Travel costs apply for travel 25km outside of Hobart and Launceston

Accommodation costs incurred are recoverable if an overnight stay is required. Total accommodation costs are capped at $300 per night.
